Project Synopsis: The goal of GAPS is to develop hardware security and software architectures with provable security interfaces that physically isolate high-risk transactions during system design and system build, and track whether these protections are physically enforced at run-time. GAPS aims to substantially lower the barrier to safely enabling high-risk transactions, thus allowing for: faster computer-to-computer transactions; spatial isolation that reduces the need for ultimately insufficient software partitioning solutions (i.e., hypervisors); and more complex missions, without putting sensitive data at risk.
